Why we focus on parish and town councils
Most agencies are generalists who don't understand local government. This is a problem for parish and town councils who have specific legal obligations around accessibility and transparency, smaller budgets, and teams who are often responsible for entire websites on top of everything else they do. They need someone who already understands that environment and can use that knowledge to help things run more smoothly. That is the gap which Nene Digital fills.
Our Story
Nene Digital was founded by Bobby McGrath, who spent many years working in digital services for councils across Huntingdonshire, South Cambridgeshire, and Cambridge City. That work covered web development and digital operations across various council websites, as well as a range of specialist microsites. Over time, he noticed there were no web agencies who actually understood the workings of local goverment, so he formed Nene Digital to bring that experience directly to local parish and town councils. He choose the name Nene Digital as a nod to his hometown Peterborough, where the River Nene runs though.
